On 9th September, IMAGIN, as Implementation Support Agency ( ISA ) to Jal Jeevan Mission JJM along with PHEDte, Govt of West Bengal, marked a milestone by establishing a Water Club at Hikampur High School, Murshidabad. This was part of IMAGIN’s bigger vision to inspire the tender minds for water conservation and its sustainable management for the future.
The Water Club was formed after an engaging and interactive session led by water treatment experts, WASH Experts and communication experts from IMAGIN. The session covered essential topics such as Water Testing, Water Management, the Importance of Purified Drinking Water, and Water Conservation Best Practices. Students were not just passive listeners; they participated actively, sharing their insights and engaging in meaningful discussions on how they can contribute to water conservation efforts in their school and community.

Objectives of the Water Club:
- Establishing a Student-Led Water Club
- Building Capacity for Water Testing and Monitoring
- Raising Awareness on Sustainable Water Management
- Developing a Strategic Action Plan
Strategic Action Plan in Motion:
In small working groups, the Water Club members identified key water-related challenges facing their school and community. The result was a comprehensive action plan that includes regular water testing, awareness campaigns, and community outreach. The plan has clear roles, responsibilities, timelines, and measurable goals, empowering students to lead the charge in improving local water conditions.

Implementation and Monitoring:
The Water Club’s action plan will be implemented over the next six months, with a review scheduled after one month to assess progress. The key goals include reducing water wastage within the school, improving water quality monitoring, and increasing community awareness about sustainable water practices.
Driving Long-Term Impact:
The formation of the Water Club at Hikampur High School represents a critical step towards involving students in the broader mission of water conservation. By combining hands-on learning, leadership development, and community engagement, the initiative has created a robust platform for sustainable water management. With continued support from ISA Murshidabad and collaboration with the Jal Jeevan Mission, this student-led initiative is set to make a lasting impact on water conservation efforts in the region.

Shabnam Khatun, one of the enthusiastic Water Club members, said, “We are excited about the club’s future activities. This is a great opportunity for us to learn and contribute towards solving water issues in our community.”
Headmaster Sanjay Mukhopadhyay added, “Our students will soon visit nearby communities to raise awareness of water conservation and waste management. The very intention will also help them grow a sense of responsibility and community engagement.”

IMAGIN is proud to support this innovative, youth-driven effort to ensure a sustainable water future for Murshidabad. The Water Club initiative exemplifies the power of education, community involvement, and leadership in addressing one of today’s most critical challenges: water conservation.
