IMAGIN Observes World Environment Day 2025 Across 5 Districts of West Bengal

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2025, IMAGIN, serving as an Implementation Support Agency (ISA) under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), organized a series of impactful awareness activities across five key districts of West Bengal—North 24 Parganas, Nadia, Murshidabad, Birbhum, and Malda.

This year’s global theme—”Ending  Plastic Pollution”—struck a powerful chord, reminding us that plastic waste has infiltrated not just our ecosystems but even our bodies, in the form of microplastics. In response, IMAGIN mobilized communities, schools, frontline workers, youth, and local institutions to take part in awareness drives and environment-friendly actions rooted in local innovation and participation.

Key Highlights from the Campaign:

  • Community Awareness Drives: Village-level meetings, rallies, and wall-writing campaigns brought forward discussions on plastic alternatives and daily behavioral shifts to reduce usage.
  • School-Based Engagements: Students participated in Tree Plantation,  quizzes, drawing competitions, and pledge ceremonies promoting the message of sustainable living and the importance of reducing plastic dependence.
  • Water Clubs in Action: Existing Water Clubs, formed under JJM, led plantation drives , slogan-writing events focused on water and environment conservation.
  • Women-Led Leadership: Local SHGs and women’s groups played a pivotal role in organizing plastic collection drives and showcasing traditional eco-friendly practices.
  • Knowledge Sharing: IMAGIN’s field teams facilitated interactive sessions, sharing real-world solutions to tackle plastic waste, promote water safety, and support environmental resilience.

The celebration emphasized collective responsibility, showing how communities, when empowered and engaged, can become active stewards of their environment. The initiative also strengthened IMAGIN’s ongoing work in promoting safe drinking water, hygiene, and sustainable resource management under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

As we move forward, IMAGIN remains committed to nurturing environmentally conscious communities and scaling up sustainable practices to ensure clean water, a clean environment, and a better future for all.
