Magic Show Raises Awareness on Water in Murshidabad

In a unique and engaging event, the students of Hatinagar Sarada Vidyapith, Berhampore  witnessed a captivating magic show aimed at generating awareness about water management and the ongoing water crisis. Organized by IMAGIN as  the Implementation Support Agency (ISA-Jal Jeevan Mission) in collaboration with the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department of Murshidabad, the event sought to emphasize the importance of purified drinking water and the Jal Jeevan Mission’s efforts to supply clean water to every household through pipelines.

The event, which was held at the school premises, saw a large turnout of students and teachers, all eager to learn more about the critical issues surrounding water conservation and management. Magicians, with their mesmerizing tricks, creatively conveyed messages about the value of water, the dangers of water scarcity, and the importance of using purified water for health and well-being.

One of the key highlights of the show was a segment where the magicians demonstrated how untreated water can lead to serious health issues. The Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), an initiative under the Government of India, aims to ensure access to safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections by 2024. In Murshidabad, the PHE Department, in coordination with the ISA, has been working tirelessly to extend piped water supply to every household in the district. Events like the magic show serve to reinforce the importance of this mission and educate the public on its benefits.

The organizers stressed that creating awareness about water management and crisis mitigation is crucial to the success of the Jal Jeevan Mission. “This magic show is just one of the many efforts we are making to connect with the community and highlight the significance of clean, safe water,” said Bhaskar Bandopadhay  from the ISA-JJM. The event concluded with a pledge by the students and teachers to practice water conservation and spread awareness in their localities.
