Nadia Tribune Championing Water Conservation

In a spirited display of advocacy and unity, Nadia played host to a momentous celebration marking World Water Day 2024 on 22nd March 2024 . The event brought together passionate advocates, community leaders, and concerned citizens, all dedicated to championing water conservation and the promotion of purified drinking water.

In a remarkable stride towards water accessibility, the Jal Jeevan project in Nadia district emerges as a beacon of success in the state. District Magistrate of Nadia S. Arun Prasad praised the efforts of the engineers of PHED and the community.

24 people were honored on World Water Day Event . Among them are teachers, students to village housewives. Some of them go around the neighborhood with schoolgirls to raise people’s awareness about water. Someone re-tests the drinking water to show how safe the tap water is. Someone again carefully designed the drinking water project.

The program organized by the Jal Jeevan Mission ISA in Nadia district took place at Krishnanagar Rabindrabhaban on this day. Remarkably, students and individuals from various segments of society are actively stepping up to conserve water. Applauding this initiative, Nadia District Magistrate S. Arun Prasad highlighted that Nadia district leads as number one among all districts in the state in providing clean drinking water from house to house under the Jal Jeevan project. He further assured that purified drinking water will soon reach 100 percent of homes in this district.

Water conservation took center stage on this significant day, conveyed vividly through a thought-provoking drama. The World Water Day festivities commenced with the release of balloons adorned with messages advocating for water conservation. Notable dignitaries, including officers from the Public Health and Technical Department such as Susmeet Bagchi, Sudeep Ghosh, and Swamidip Bhattacharya, graced the occasion with their presence.

Amidst the serene backdrop of Nadia’s landscapes, the event witnessed inspiring moments that underscored the urgent need for collective action in safeguarding our most precious resource – water. From engaging discussions to practical demonstrations, the celebration resonated with a sense of purpose and commitment to effect positive change.

From rainwater harvesting demonstrations to discussions on watershed management, the event offered exhibitions of Models on  actionable solutions to address water scarcity challenges. Central to the festivities was the emphasis on promoting purified drinking water as a fundamental human right.

 

The celebration also provided a platform for collaboration and networking, as stakeholders from diverse backgrounds came together to share their experiences, expertise, and best practices in water conservation efforts.
