“Do something drastic – cut the plastic!”, the famous slogan was heard during the Nukkad Natak by student members of the Water Cabinet of Kandi, Murshidabad observing World Environment Day. The performance campaigned against plastic usage and pollution. The Nukkad Natak had songs and poems appealing to villagers to act wisely. School children of Jashohari Anukha Gram Panchayat participated in the drama wearing t-shirts with slogans and requested others to minimize water wastage and pollution.
Anushka Ghosh of Bahara Adarsha Vidyapith High School was excited to perform in the drama. “We as students are requesting elders to act wisely with our natural resources. Single-use plastic is like a time bomb for our world. This is high time we should act”.
Local Gram Panchayat pradhan Ruchira Tribedi also attended the campaign. “Through this performance, we are learning to save the environment and water, ” said Ruchira Tribedi .
