Laxmi Rani Pal, a resident of Bazar para habitation, Chandannagar village under Krishnaganj GP and Krishnaganj Block, not only does all household chores, but also does pottery to earn. She makes clay pots at home and sells them. Her husband and child also help her in this work. This is the only source of their income, which helps in maintaining their day to day life, her child’s education, and other necessities.
Earlier, their pottery work was not going well, because, for many years they did not have Functional Household Tap connection and because of that Mrs.
Pal and her child needed to go almost 1 km every day to fetch drinking water, and that affected her work and also her child’s education. After doing all household chores for the whole day and fetching water from far, she had very little time left for the pottery work, which was not enough. And as her child also went with her for fetching water, it led to also affecting her child’s education. As Mrs. Pal did not get proper time to make the clay pots that affected their family income to some extent.
But now because of National Jal Jeevan Mission, she has received functional tap connection at her home and situations have become so much better. She gets water two times, which helps her to do the household chores promptly in the morning, as now she does not need to go to 1 km far to fetch drinking water. She uses that water only for drinking, cooking and hand washing. It has become so easy for her to do pottery works. Now, she can give more time in making clay pots and selling them. It has also become easy for her child to maintain the education properly.
