A Silent Candle March in KumirmariVillage of Hingalganj creating social resistance against water theft

Jal Jeevan Mission is reaching even the most secluded villages of Hingalganj and transforming lives. The people of Kumirmari  Village under  Rupmari Gram Panchyet,  Hingalganj had to struggle a lot for a glass of purified water, the salty water of the rivers was not worth drinking. But FHTC Connections in houses and purified drinking water from it are changing the scenario.

With JJM,  the social and behavioral changes in the village are helping to mobilize local action ensuring people’s control over the choices to protect the right to drinking water. Traigerred by ISA IMAGIN, the  Villagers are uniting together to generate social resistance against water theft.  Villagers organized a candle March appealing for Collective responsibility toward ensuring safe and accessible water for all. But they were silent all through the route with red ribbons tied on their faces to signify silent protest.   Inhabitants of the villages are ready to drive change by advocating for zero water theft in the village. The rally also created awareness of the judicious use of water.Hingalganj women protesting against water theft
