IMAGIN has been actively serving as an Implementation Support Agency (ISA) under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) since 2023 across the districts of Nadia, Murshidabad, Birbhum, Maldah  and North 24 Parganas in West Bengal. On May 2025 we started working as ISA of JJM in Maldah District .  Within this project , IMAGIN has facilitated the revitalization of 1,069 Gram Panchayat-level Village Water and Sanitation Committees (VWSCs) and established 2237 Water User Committees, known as Jal Bachao Committees. Additionally, School-Level Water Clubs have been formed to promote water conservation awareness among students.

Role of IMAGIN:

As an Implementation Support Agency (ISA), IMAGIN plays a pivotal role in driving community-led initiatives under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). IMAGIN facilitates the formation and strengthening of sub-committees of Gram Panchayats, such as GPWSCs/VWSCs, and builds the capacity of their members to effectively manage water supply schemes.

Through the use of Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) tools, IMAGIN mobilizes communities and conducts thorough need assessments to support the preparation and implementation of Village Action Plans (VAPs). The organization provides consistent handholding support to Gram Panchayats in tasks such as opening bank accounts, mobilizing community contributions, arranging operation and maintenance (O&M), organizing Gram Sabhas and sub-committee meetings, and ensuring acceptance and resolution of village schemes. IMAGIN also promotes Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs), coordinates between DWSM and village committees, and leads awareness campaigns on rainwater harvesting, water quality, water-borne diseases, and sustainable water management. Additionally, IMAGIN undertakes IEC and SBCC activities, documents village-level success stories, ensures impactful wall paintings, and conducts training programs to build the capacity of PRIs and water committees as per the mission’s guidelines.
