Congratulations ! Meet the Community Youth Reporters of Murshidabad !

A big congratulations to everyone from  IMAGIN! On January 12, 2025, UNICEF India highlighted the efforts of the Community Youth Reporters of Murshidabad on its X handle.  The Community Youth Reporter Programme successfully trained 24 students, impacting over 3,700 students across five schools. IMAGIN,  Kolkata Press Club, and UNICEF West Bengal – these three key partners have come together to empower the youth and create a positive change in the community through impactful journalism training.

This initiative has empowered youth and fostered community engagement in meaningful journalism. Well done to all involved in making this a success! UNICEF India writes

Meet the fearless Community Youth Reporters from Murshidabad! From preventing child marriage to tackling environmental issues, they’re amplifying stories that matter. With support from IMAGIN, Press Club Kolkata, & UNICEF West Bengal, they’re leading the charge for a better tomorrow. #NationalYouthDay”

These youth reporters from different schools  of Murshidabad underwent training in the art of journalism, right from reporting techniques to ethics concerning the profession. Equipped with this knowledge, they constitute the frontline in tackling various challenges their communities are facing.

The reporters continue to follow up on the attendance of each child to school and whether child marriages are still occurring, though secretly. The reporters are also checking on the nutrition of the children, ensuring they do not suffer from malnutrition.

They don’t just report but actually involve themselves within the community to raise awareness and mobilize for change.
